If you completed the Mentoring for Provisionally Registered Teachers (PRT) Program at Gowrie Victoria since 2019, we’d love to hear from you.

Gowrie and Deakin University are partnering on a joint research project to better understand what graduates of the program valued most and how those experiences shaped their practice and professional identity beyond the program.

Gowrie Executive Manager of Adult Learning, Glyn Williams, says the research reflects Gowrie’s ongoing commitment to understanding the real-world impact of its professional learning programs.

The project, led by Deakin University researcher Dr Jessica Ciuciu, will explore the value-added elements that Gowrie has developed beyond the standard mentoring program, including the strengths and limitations of those features, and how participation influenced graduates during and after their time in the program.

Program Manager Sue Plowright says the mentoring program has always been about more than meeting registration requirements.

Combined professional development and research focus groups

Participation takes the form of combined professional development and research focus groups with the chance to reconnect with colleagues, engage with current thinking in the sector, and contribute to research that could strengthen ECT mentoring for years to come.
