The team at Gowrie Victoria Broadmeadows Valley recently worked with fka Children’s Services to create videos around the theme of supporting multilingual families.

Members of the team were interviewed about how the service supports multilingual families through enrolment and orientation processes, as well as ongoing engagement in the educational programs. Three multilingual parents also very kindly gave their time to share their own experiences on camera, reflecting on ways in which they were supported to feel welcome when they first arrived at the service, and what has been most helpful for their family to build trust and a sense of belonging.

The purpose of the videos is to support teachers and educators working with multilingual families to embed practice to help them feel welcomed and to actively participate in their child’s early learning service.

We are very proud of the work captured so wonderfully in these videos and we are grateful to the staff and families who volunteered their time. Thank you also to fka Children’s Services for inviting us to be a part of this.
