Meet Julie, one of our educators from Clare Court!
Julie has been a long-serving team member at Clare Court for almost 14 years, before the centre was acquired by Gowrie.
In her spare time Julie loves to be with her two beautiful grandchildren, growing succulents and other flowers, and taking small trips around Victoria with her partner.
What do you love about your job?
I love interacting with the children and seeing the growth in them. Watching their minds grow with the knowledge, curiosity and imagination that comes from their everyday play, through interactions with their peers, Educators and the environment around them.
Tell us about your career with Gowrie so far:
I started at Clare Court before the merger with Gowrie. I have been at this centre for almost 14 years now, which is actually my whole time being in this industry. I haven’t worked at any other Early Childhood Services and don’t see myself leaving anytime soon.
What do you love about working at Gowrie?
I have always felt like a part of a team no matter what room I have worked in. The staff are very supportive and management are very approachable whenever you need to raise an issue or seek advice.
Do you have a favourite memory in your time at Gowrie?
It would be hard to choose one favourite memory. It’s always nice when parents have nice things to say about the work you have been doing with the children, and they acknowledge the growth they have seen in their own children.
What advice do you have for other Educators?
Just be yourself. Interact with the children on their level and really listen to them. That way you form a connection with them and get to know their likes and dislikes and can plan a program that works for them.
What were you doing before working at Gowrie?
Before starting with Gowrie, I was a stay-at-home mum raising my three children. Once my youngest was ready to start high school I decided to begin my career in Early Childhood Education.
