Our series of 12 eLearning modules for new educators is now live.

These free courses aim to build the confidence and work-readiness of new educators as they embark on their early childhood career. Courses support new educators to implement what they learnt and extend their learning from their Certificate III studies.

Courses are full of practical examples from Gowrie’s own educators so that new educators across the Victorian sector can see examples of educator practice in other services.

Courses are also full of interactive activities so that new educators reflect on what they see, and are supported to think about how this might work in their own context.

eLearning content was filmed at Gowrie Broadmeadows Valley, Gowrie Clare Court and Gowrie Docklands Kindergarten with interviews and case studies with educators, teachers, educational leaders, managers, trainers, coaches and mentors from across Gowrie.

Flexible learning options

Courses are on demand and educators can choose how many to undertake and in which order they learn. They cover a range of pedagogy, personal development and regulatory topics:

  • Professional identity, ethics, and teaching philosophy
  • Educator wellbeing
  • Intentionality in learning environments
  • Working in a team
  • Foundational practice – the arts in practice
  • Relationships with families
  • Foundational practice – routines and rituals
  • Supporting children with additional needs
  • Foundational practice – using digital tech. with children
  • Trauma informed practice

These courses are a key part of the Skilling an Adaptable Early Childhood Education and Care Workforce (SAEW) Project led by Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA) and also supported by Y Ballarat. As well as the eLearning, the project offers a Community

Hub where new educators can also participate in discussion forums and workshops to share good practice and offer peer support to each other to really set them up for their new career.
