The path to full teaching registration was smooth for Broadmeadows Valley Early Childhood Educator Zaahirah Aikagjee.

Zaahirah says she worked very closely with her Gowrie Victoria mentor, who guided her through her inquiry project when she was a provisionally registered teacher (PRT).

“I found I was well supported and had the good fortune to observe my mentor, to have professional discussions and receive constructive feedback,” she says. “This made it a good experience.”

For the past three years, Gowrie Victoria has offered a mentoring program to PRTs, guiding them through to reach full teaching registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.

New funding from the Department of Education and Training has seen the program embark on another major intake this year.
