Spencer is our fence at Gowrie Carlton Learning Precinct and the creation of Narae Seong.

Narae created the cartoon to support children to understand why a fence was being built and the reasoning behind dividing the yard and creating bubbles at the service. It’s one way to help keep us safer during COVID. Distancing reduces the possibility of the virus being transmitted and bubbles ensure that if there was a positive case, fewer people would be close contacts and would need to isolate.

Narae found that some of the children with siblings at the service couldn’t understand why they could no longer play together.  Some children also thought the fence was a climbing frame.  But reading about Spencer has been a fun way to engage children and have deeper conversations with them.

Narae is an Early Years Leader with the under threes at Gowrie Carlton Learning Precinct and has previously worked for Gowrie NSW in Sydney.  She is passionate about providing individual development support to children and finding ways to support families’ understanding of their child’s development and progress.  Her goal is to create children’s books.
